I enjoy speaking about product development and representing the teams and companies I work for.
Talk: Introducing Teachers Pay Teachers
Design Driven NYC
In this talk, I shared examples of our work and, more importantly, introduced Design Driven NYC to the community of educators we support at TpT — I was proud to share the fantastic work they're doing in education. This talk concludes with three essential and early Design Team learnings.
Workshop: Starting With Why | Statements of Purpose
Crafting Your Team’s Purpose
The purpose of this workshop is to help teams collaborate on crafting their statements of intent. The workshop is designed around a brand-building exercise called The Wheel. It comprises seven activities that complete the narrative: Proof Points, Functional Benefits, Emotional Benefits, Values, Core Beliefs, Positioning, and Purpose. At the end of the workshop, the team will have a shared system to guide our work.
Workshop: Design Thinking
Design Thinking for Educators
For the past seven years, TpT has partnered with its Teacher-Author community to host an annual conference for 1200ish attendees. In this three-day event, they present topics ranging from "Build Your Brand With Smartphone Marketing" to "Raising The Quality and Rigor of Your Teaching Resources." In this talk, I covered how to use design thinking methods to help uncover innovative ideas and solutions.

Workshop: Making Extraordinary Presentations
Carrying Narratives Workshop
Framing problems and carrying narratives are two critical and essential skills everyone needs to employ at work. However, storytelling is not something that comes naturally to everyone. Dan Roam's books on creating extraordinary presentations are the most influential storytelling references I've read. I use Roam's Show and Tell book in this session to workshop best practices for storytelling and crafting presentations.
Workshop: JTBD + Value Prop Canvas + Biz Model Canvas
Jobs To Be Done Workshop
In preparation for TpT's 2019 annual planning sessions, our leadership wanted better to understand our opportunity with a new set of customers. To do that, I led and facilitated a three-part workshop that covered initial customer sizing, Jobs-to-be-Done, Value Proposition Canvas, and Business Model Canvas exercises. This workshop was well-documented and transformed into a repeatable toolkit for others.
